Tips on Buying a New Car

June 30th, 2006

Buying some valuable things is never a simple matter, but buying a new car can become even a more difficult task. It goes without saying that this process of making such a purchase requires a lot of skills and patience from the potential customer. However some people claim that there’s nothing more satisfying than buying a new car, but still they agree on the point that there’s nothing more stressful either. With the average cost of a new car approaching 20 000 and dealership salespeople trained to get you to pay as high a price as possible, it’s important that you do your homework before walking into a dealership. Otherwise you can easily fall for the bait and buy the vehicle that you actually do not need.
Nowadays salespeople do their best to make you accept their advertising gimmicks and as a result you can find it very difficult to resist temptation and finally you may feel that you are not aware of the things you are doing. Car buying can be daunting, difficult, even tedious – until you get the proper help from some outer sources. These can be various sites and by the way there are loads of them in internet. Actually they can give you comprehensive information on all makes and models of vehicles and the extras they offer. The car buying advice you need is located at your fingertips at the page of the site you have chosen - just click on the category that matches your needs and become a car buying expert in a matter of minutes! You shouldn’t forget that no one gets on your nerves by persuading you to buy this or that car: you are on your own and you can feel free to act as you like. However you may prefer another tested method of buying a car with the help of the real, not virtual, adept. And it’s often better when this adept is from the outside, I mean he is not interested in advertising you a certain type of car. In this case much depends on what sort of expert the chosen person is. The next step is to decide how much money you are going to spend on your new car. This might be the most important thing you can do when buying a new car. Many people walk into a dealership, without financing, and find the dealership dictating the terms of the car loan. Terms that often change or end up with payments much too high for the customer to afford. However, I deem, one can easily avoid this sort of problems by walking in already with a pre-approved loan. In this situation you can either go through a financial institution or a credit union or you can go with online financing options. There’s also a way to save your money when buying a car: you should try to find out the dealer’s real cost for the vehicle you want to purchase. This price is often less than the invoice price and knowing the dealership’s cost goes a long way in recognizing how far you can bargain with them.
So, as you can see, by following some simple steps you can easily avoid several problems connected with the contents of your purse. If you manage to take all the pieces of advice into consideration you may easily hope for a successful purchase.

Phaeton is a mistake?

June 30th, 2006

With the new Phaeton the VW is coming to the market of hi-class automobiles. And it is really a luxury car. There is all what you can imagine in this car: innovative engines (including a W12 petrol unit and the world’s most powerful passenger car diesel, the V10 TDI), four-wheel air suspension as standard, the 4MOTION four-wheel drive system (depending on equipment) and a 4-zone Climatronic air conditioner as standard, not to mention the fine wood veneers in the horizontal centre part of the dashboard, on the centre console and on the doors and the leather on the sits and the gearshift, selected and worked by hand. All conforms to the hi-class. But Phaeton has some problems by selling. Why? The answer is difficult: This problem has many aspects. On the one hand, there are many competitors on this field: Mercedes S-class, BMW 7-series, Audi A8, Bently Continental and others. They have more experience in the building of hi-class cars. (And I don’t understand the strategy of the concern VW: it owns the Audi. Why does it make the competitor of Audi?) But it is not the most important aspect of the problem. Nowadays all the products (ex. hi-class cars) are the same quality and it is very important to sell not the product, but the image of the product. The well-known hi-class-car-producers have more respect than the new brand of the VW. And what image does the VW have? The first problem of this brand is the name of the car: Volkswagen (“public car”). All his history the VW produced cheap cars for ordinary people. And I have only one question: Would you - a chief of the respectful organization or as a businessman - drive the VW Phaeton?

The all New CL-Class by Mercedes. Sounds interesting, isn’t it?

June 30th, 2006

Mercedes-Benz has been producing coupes for over 50 years already. This is the tradition, and tradition, which embodies extraordinary and modern design, supreme exclusiveness and highest quality along with the ahead of the time technology, which all car manufacturers take cue from. The presentation of the new CL-Class at the end of the year is going to be the climax of a Mercedes-Benz coupe building, which nobody in the automotive world has the right to miss.

Even the standard model of the new Cl-Class includes the Active Body Control (ABC) suspension system, the Intelligent Light System with five functions and Pre-Safe driver and passengers protection. It also features Pre-Safe brakes. Pre-Safe is the registered Mercedes system, which is truly unique system electronically braking the automobile before rear cars lose traction with the road surface. The new CL-Class features 8-cylinder and 12-cylinder engines, providing, on the one hand, high output, on the other, a great amount of torque. The driving experience is very smooth, so that you can feel the traditional Mercedes riding quality.

Power, inimitable style, highest quality – The new CL-class Mercedes Coupe offers it all. Mercedes is a sort of benchmark in terms of modern technology, safety, ultimate comfort and outstanding handling. The new CL-class Mercedes Coupe is a car, which almost everyone dreams to own. Mercedes values its traditions and the new Coupe is the best example of how tradition and technology turn into the ultimate masterpiece of the automotive art.

The design of the new CL-Class was created to be in motion even when the car stands still. You can feel the character, which the car is trying to convey – be moved, be inspired, be yourself. Large, smooth surfaces, flowing into straight lines, expressing front and rear, stressing its classical nature. The exclusive body shape, virtually bending downwards is a thing of the Mercedes state-of-the-art Coupés whose origins go back to the 1950s: in 1956 the 220 S/SE Coupé (W 180/W 128 model series) and later the 220 SE Coupé (W 111/112).

The new CL-Class Mercedes represents the seventh generation of the traditional Mercedes-Benz Coupes. The new model changes the previous model, which was a bestseller in its class. The history of Mercedes Coupes dates back to 1952, when the 300 S Coupé was introduced. The appearance of this model was the greatest sensation in the automotive industry of that time. Then was 220 S Coupé, which made a noise in the world, later W 111 with its stylish body, in 1981 W 126, W 140 in 1991, W 211 in 1999, which is actually the predecessor of the new model and now the all new CL-Class Mercedes, designed for passion and pleasure.

Woman inside Lexus GS

May 28th, 2006

As always, the Lexus stylists have gone conservative, and that is in line with their overall philosophy. I do not mind at all. Their one foray into “progressive” is what kept this 5 time SC owner from buying the new one when it came out.
When I got into this car I feel like one of those little old ladies who sits on a telephone book to peer over the wheel. I  felt like sunk into a bowl.
At least it’s a luxurious, leather-lined bowl. Fine wood, quality materials and superb fit put the Lexus GS on the same level as Audi’s much-praised interiors. Part of the simplicity it exhibits is misleading, though. Instead of a mass of buttons and switches on the panel, the touch-sensitive display screen must be used for some, which can be distracting. Additional switches are on a hard-to-see panel that drops out of the lower left of the dash on touching a button, more are under the slide-back console armrest, and several are overhead.
Such is the price of technology, where we’re given the toys to play with but no safe way to access them. Too bad, because otherwise the interior is comfortable and suited to driving quickly. Back seat passengers will find legroom adequate, headroom tight.

Let’s speak about Hybrid cars

May 19th, 2006

In this blog I will talk about the hybrid cars or about the cars of the future. First let’s look at the present oil prices. This week average gas price per gallon in US is about $2.15. A year ago the gas prices per gallon was $1.76. Trend shows that it is the right time to go green.
So..Since this blog I begin to collect the main information about Hybrid cars. Just join me and let’s speak about The cars of the future….

2007 Chevy Malibu Hybrid:
2007 Chevy Malibu Hybrid is going to have similar hybrid system as planned Saturn VUE SUV hybrid. The car will have a 12 to 15% increases in fuel economy. 2007 Chevy Malibu Hybrid will have automatic transmission with 4 cylinder, 2.4-liter engine with front-wheel drive. Less then 6 miles an hour and the engine shuts down thus car runs on battery system. This car is going to be built at Kansas City. 2007 Chevy Malibu Hybrid is going to have 24 miles and 35 miles per gallon on city and highway respectively.

2006 Nissan Altima Hybrid:
Nissan is not going to develop any hybrid program. Sole intention of introducing 2006 Nissan Altima Hybrid is to meet fuel economy and emissions standards in some states like California. Altima is buying hybrid technology from Toyota to build the car. The primary focus of 2006 Nissan Altima Hybrid will not be the fuel economy or reduced emission but the car will try to match performance and acceleration of non-hybrid models.

2007 Toyota Sienna Hybrid Minivan:
A larger version of Estima is Sienna marketed in US and Europe by Toyota. Sienna hybrid will be the first hybrid minivan available in US market. The exact date for the launch is not specified by Toyota but it is most likely going to be introduced in 2007. 2007 Toyota Sienna Hybrid Minivan will have 2.4 liter, four-cylinder engine. The hybrid engine will be very likely similar to Highlander or Lexus Hybrid SUVs. The engine will deliver 270 hp of power and will come with an acceleration of 0-60 km/hour in 8 seconds.

A few other hybrid cars waiting round the corners are 2006 Lexus GS, 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2007 Dodge Durango and 2007 GMC Yukon. I will speak about this cars in detail on my future blog.

what about buying a hybrid car ?

May 19th, 2006

Isn’t hybrid cars cool. Yes, it is. But why? Have you ever thought of the green house effect or how the exhaust from the cars degrading our environment? Have you ever thought of going green? Have you ever thought what is the gift you are going to give to next generation? Are you planning that you would not give even an ounce of fresh air for the generations to come? Have you ever thought how much you would make your country dependable on other countries for fossil fuel? If you have not given thought to all the above then :( . Let’s do it even if you have to cough a bit of extra $1000-1500 as this price is nothing as compared to the benefits you are going to get when you buy a hybrid car…..
So what about buying a hybrid car??? Why not to spend some more money and have a car of the future and at the same time protect our nature??

How I bought Subaru Legasy

May 19th, 2006

(It is written down according to the story of My Friend)

In 3 years I liked a small white car which stood on my daddy’s table.
In 4 years I liked ‘ Cranes ‘(a kind of lifting)….I liked toy ones coz real were huge and dirty.
In 6 years I liked our new father’s Ford which I had started ‘ to drive ‘ sitting on my Daddy’s laps.
In 10 years I liked to draw cars. Every day I could have a new model.
In 12 years I liked foreign cars. It didn’t matter what kind of. I cut out them from magazines and glued into my copybook.
In 14 years I had forgotten about cars and got a motor bike which was given to my birthday. The dreams had come true…I could drive by myself …. A pleasure to drive was lasting for 3 days. Then something had broken init and my driving experience had stopped till 18 years.
In 18 years I had finally bought a cool bike … .I got it in summer so after driving it for 3 month I fed up with it.
In 20 - had bought a motorcycle. In an hour after having bought it I slided down in to a ditch. Had torn trousers. …
21 year …. eventually went to driving school  ….
In 21 year had bought the first car. That was Volkswagen Polo.
In 23 years had sold the car and went on foot.
In 33 years, after 3 days living in America I got tired to go on foot…….

Part 2.

The population of Alaska is only 500 thousand, but here you can find all dealers of all automobile firms. So the choice is so big  that eyes have run up. And when you are going on foot everyone looks suspiciously at you.
First of all I was thinking about my budget…. And had decided that a car for 3 thousand would be the right one for me. But after 3 days of searching for such a car I’d realized that such cars wouldn’t drive for more than 3 days….
As I found out in some days- Americans prefer Lorries to cars. More than a half of cars in Alaska are Lorries or SUV.
A new car coasted too much for me…And therefore I stopped on choosing a used car. Among them there were also cheap and expensive ones. My budget could afford only 30 per cents of all the choice.
So I decided on Subaru.
Subaru doesn’t produce such variety of models as other firms. So the choice was between Forester, Impreza and Legacy. As Forester was rather a new model, the price wasn’t affordable for me. So I was looking for a Subaru 95-96….But under newspaper announcements all Subaru missed this very day. I was simply amazed by popularity of this car…
And finally I  found Subaru Legacy 95 for 8 thousand!

Now I can safely say its the best car I’ve had, it drives well has loads of power and no one knows what it is!
It’s very reliable and responds well to modifications. If you want a performance Subaru and don’t want the image then go for a Legacy as they have exactly the same running gear as an Impreza.

They come with lots of feature too:
-Some come with air con
-Electic sunroof, mirrors etc
-Heated mirrors
-ABS
-Electric windows all round
-PAS
-lots more!

What more can I say, I love it!

Driving Experience

May 15th, 2006

Well I just got back from a lesson with my instructor. He seems to think my biggest problem is not that I ‘do everything wrong’ (like I seem to think) he thinks it’s the fact that I keep putting myself down at everything. And thinking about it, he’s right. I mean, I can drive, I know how to drive and get around. I know everything your supposed to do, but I keep telling myself I’m rubbish, and that I’ll never pass and I think that’s reflecting in my driving. Is there any way of improving my way of thinking? Or method of positive thinking? Do you think, that my low self-esteem when it comes to my driving, is affecting my ability to drive at all? I have a test 7,July so I was just thinking if it’s worth trying to improve or should I just cancel? I mean, I don’t think I can really change my way of thinking. Did anyone here ever have that prob?

Car insurance

May 15th, 2006

Why is insurance in States such a rip?

According to http://www.carinsurance.com/kb/content10209.aspx
To insure a 16 year old in central Florida on a 200bhp MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE SPYDER GT
costs just $5000 = c.£3000 a year fully comprehensively.

in fact they say on (http://www.carinsurance.com/kb/content12377.aspx)
“Cars to avoid for teens are very small cars with no safety features and SUVs since teens tend to overreact and could roll the vehicle.”

I know the UK is not the worst for insurance, I hear £5k is the norm in Northern Island but I think a lot of teens die needlessly because they can’t afford insurance on cars with a lot of safety features.
